Scripture: Mark 10:42-45 Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant. And whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
Observe & Application It strikes me that Jesus is repeating himself from yesterday’s passage : the servant of all. It is more than serving my family. It is serving ‘all’. But can I serve all I meet? Can I be aware of the people around me and serve them? Can I work in their best interests? No, of course not. The secret is to take my eyes off myself and fix them on Christ and onto others that he points out to me. I need to put myself in their shoes and then serve in the way that Jesus directs, either in big or small ways.
Life application for today Just do it. Be aware of the needs (felt or not) of everyone I meet today, whether the clerk at the store, my spouse, my neighbours, my friends or the friends of my children, etc…
Prayer Lord, I choose to love like you do, but please open my eyes that I might see as you see.
